About

An independent guide to one mountain

mornebrabant.org is a visitor guide and reference for Le Morne Brabant in Mauritius — the mountain, the lagoon, the UNESCO cultural landscape and the villages around them.

What this site is

One place to plan a Le Morne visit properly: whether the trail is open, how hard the hike really is, which beach fits your day, where to stay, and why the mountain is treated as a memorial landscape rather than a viewpoint.

It is an independent publication. It is not an official UNESCO, government or Le Morne Heritage Trust Fund website.

How the guides are researched

Factual claims about access, the trail, heritage and ecology are based on official and primary sources — Le Morne Heritage Trust Fund visitor information, the UNESCO World Heritage listing, and published research. Every guide lists its sources at the bottom.

Live conditions use the Open-Meteo forecast and marine models, and the trail status is verified manually against official notices. Where something is uncertain or can change at short notice — trail access above all — the guides say so and point to the official authority instead of guessing.

Independence and money

Recommendations are never sold. Where the site earns anything — bookable experiences, and in future direct stay bookings with local properties — those placements are labelled, and they never change safety guidance or rankings. If a partnership would conflict with honest advice, the advice wins.
